Emma D's diary

At Scarborough: Arrrrrrrh! x

Wave dodging is an addictive sport. I'd like to say that we are all older and wiser these days. I'd like to say that we stand back and watch and listen and wait. Being older and wiser means that you understand the sound of the waves growing in size. You can hear then hissing and smashing into each other. That means that they broke up against a returning wave on the way in. That also means they are not big enough to run the wall and leap over.

We also know how to listen to the drum of the wave hitting the base of the wall. It shakes the pier a little. A booming sound. That's a biggy. A big one. A soaker. Count to three from the base drum sound and whoosh!
A soaker.

This group of friends, were watching the playful waves. They sat and listened instead of looking. . I counted to five, not three. Boom..........whoosh.........arrrrrrrhhhh!

Sorry, I say! X
