Any ideas?

This is the message that I've been getting recently when I try and delete old photos on my Windows 8 laptop. Not all photos, just some of them.

Has anyone else had this or a similar problem because it's getting a bit tiresome?

Edit 1: I've just shredded one with AVG and it seems to have worked, although it doesn't really solve the whole problem because I can't rename some photos either.

Edit 2: The shredding deleted the picture but left an empty file that was undeletable. So we tried a system restore... which failed.

Edit 3: I looked at the properties of the photos and altered the permissions from System to Administrator, which allowed them to be deleted. Hurrah. But now to see if I can check on permissions somewhere.
