Against all Odds!

The rains yesterday in the dales and local area last night meant rising coloured rivers and a somewhat twitchy host for my first days Barbel fishing! My good friend Ivan had two options for us and on arriving at the first the river was higher and faster than he had hoped and the forecast of more rain looked imminent . We fished until gone midday then opted to move from the river Swale to the River Ure . Upon arriving the we found high boiling coloured water, however due to it being a bigger river more fishable. In the next one and a half hours I caught my first Barbel ( around 4/5lbs ) then hooked one that set off like a train and broke the line (8lbs ), then hooked and landed the above a 7lbs plus that put up a huge fight! What a day, spent with a great friend, caught two beautiful Barbel hardly had any rain and much sunshine ! A big thank you for a great day Ivan.
