Bowood 2013 #27

My Bowood project is nearing its close as the House and Grounds will shut down for the year early next month. This afternoon visit revealed the grounds in autumnal mode. I was treated to the sight of a hare, but too far away to photograph, and a massive skein of Canada geese came honking noisily to land on the Lake or on the sloping lawn to its west. The leaves were just beginning to turn, but most noticeable was the appearance of various kinds of fungi.

This fly agaric appears to have been nibbled by a caterpillar. I don't know whether it made it larger or smaller, and it seems to have taken its hookah with it.
