Gateway Cottage, Bangour Hospital

The mental hospital was closed in the '90s - but reopened briefly when Hollywood filmed The Jacket here.

Not knowing much about the place - I stopped on the way into town to take a look. The security guy wasn't going to let me in with the camera at first - they've got a ban on photos as they've been overrun with ghost hunters who have been reading info posted on the interweb.

It's a really big, sprawling site - with loads of boarded up buildings and some of the industrial-type buildings have a bit of an Auschwitz look. Even though it is reasonably close to the main road it feels really isolated with only the odd dog walker to give any sense of security.

It got a wee bit spooky as it was dusk (maybe that was due to being on my own and catching the tail end of Texas Chainsaw Massacre last night). Think I'll come back during the day some time to look around more.
