Remembering

The hills are calling in the warm autumn sunshine but I have work to do so must resist. It seems appropriate to blip the war memorial in the cemetery as it's Remembrance Sunday. None of my close family died in the world wars but if my grandfather hadn't been sick and not sailed with his ship in 1917 I wouldn't be here - it was torpedoed and no-one survived. I have half a dozen letters he wrote to my grandma while he was away, which are fascinating to read even though they mainly tell of the mundane life ashore and how much he was looking forward to going home. Well I am remembering them today.
