A BRIGHTER HARBOUR BECKONED
WHERE PEACE AND LOVE PREVAIL

John Wilfred (Jack) Linder, youngest son of William and Emily Linder, was born at Wawota, Saskatchewan in 1922. He took his schooling in Wawota, then joined the army in 1940 going overseas with the Regina Rifle Regiment. He was killed by a sniper's bullet on September 25, 1944, and is buried at Calais Canadian War Cemetery in Leubringhen, France. Linder Lake in Northern Saskatchewan is named in memory of Jack Linder.

We visited K's great-uncle's final resting place near Calais on Remembrance Day weekend. Remembrance Day in Canada is a date to remember the men and women who served, and continue to serve our country in times of war, conflict and peace, and for us to come to understand and appreciate what they have sacrificed for their country.
