By Himself

Cashel

I took myself out to Farranamanagh - 'the lands of the monks' along the old green road to Kilcrohane. I find the road very evocative and there may be some writing welling up about it - but it's not quite formed yet.

As the light was fading, between the lake and the sea, I came upon this little cashel made from the round pebbles that line the shore. Who made it? An artist, a child (is there a difference?) - perhaps a father for his children "We'll make a home for the fairies - to keep them safe". Whoever it was had created something with the same presence and sense of place as the real thing - looking out across the bay, perfectly at one with the landscape.
