Catherine's Journey

Excursion

Finally after weeks of planning...the big excursion day happened. Our 0-3 year old room has not been on an excursion for nearly 2 years, so we took the opportunity of all the older children in at the moment to plan one. Simple really...! A bus trip to the bakery in the Main Street to buy a cupcake, eat it on the balcony and return by bus. This with 15 two and three year olds, 3 staff members and 7 parent helpers which more than dealt with our ratio requirement of 1:2 The return journey was interesting with the bus being a few minutes late at our meeting place and 15 little ones on a sugar high. But everyone who was involved loved it! The bakery made such an effort, baking us extra specially decorated cakes, the parents were amazing, and the children couldn't stop babbling about it all for the rest of the day! It seems it was impossible to decide whether the bus trip or the cupcake was the most exciting part of it, but I think the bus might just take the cake ;) I'm just glad we made it back with all children accounted for and no first aid required. And not even a wet accident from all those clever children :)
