The Beacon

I'm driving past Allianz Arena twice nearly every day, riding one of those light trails underneath. And I almost don't notice that outstanding piece of architecture any more. But today it was all but a beacon in the heavy fog - so I stopped and took the first picture of it in quite some time.

The blip shows Allianz Arena in heavy fog, almost looking as if the horizon was on fire. I was standing on the same bridge across the autobahn and nearly in the same spot (and used only a slightly longer focal length) as in this and this picture, but the stadium was hardly visible today.

In other football related news, Germany won 1-0 against England today. I must say, we’re having a rather good run in Wembley – old and new – after that fateful day in July ’66. But then again, already English football legend Gary Lineker knew: “Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win.”
