MATTHEW WADSWORTH - LUTENIST

When Matthew arrived at the studio with his lute, I was expecting something approximating the size of a mandolin, rather than a double-bass.
I had not realised that lutes, (like saxophones) come in different sizes.
Matt, being a professional lutenist, has a collection of them.
Matt's also blind and has devised an app to assist visually-impaired people access restaurant menus.

This lute is called a Theorbo by the way, and Matt made it make the most divine sound.
We were recording an edition of BBC Radio 4's In Touch for broadcast on 17th December.
So it you want to hear Matthew's playing, tune in then.

At the end of the programme I was hoping he would play
'Going back to my lutes'.
But he chose something else.
