There's Something about a Soldier...

This evening I attended a champagne reception at the Officers' Mess, Combermere Barracks, Windsor, the home of the Household Cavalry.

Vanity prevailed with my choice of shoes and my feet, by this time, were bipping agony! But I soldiered through the pain to mingle with the young men who were not long back from Afghanistan.

The photo, taken by a soldier, is of me (centre!!) with a member of the Blues and Royals on the left and a Life Guard, on the right in full ceremonial dress.

They stood like this for about two and a half hours - but at least they wore sensible footwear!
