Mum

It's been quite a trip that brought us from Cairo to Rome then Barcelona, London and Glasgow and my Mum's home in Largs, Scotland. Two planes along the way had technical problems on the ground, both of which were resolved before take off. The first breakdown and repair, though, took place as we taxi-ed to take off in Cairo yesterday evening and cost us an hour's delay as well as our onward connection in Rome to Barcelona. So it was an unexpected hotel stay in Rome with a late night internet scramble to try and re-do our flights to Scotland, the first of which scheduled for this morning we would also miss! Still, it all worked out by paying a penalty for changing flights plus increased fares. So today we took three flights in rapid succession from Rome to Barcelona and then onto London with another change for Glasgow. We made a mad dash along the way to our house in Barcelona where we had only 45 minutes to repack our bags with winter clothes for the far north! So we eventually arrived in very strong cross winds in Glasgow which had many gripping their seat arms and brought a round of applause when the wheels touched down! From there it was a short drive over the hills to the Firth of Clyde and a plate of homemade tomato soup! Can't beat it!
