Gorton Monastery

The Northern Design Awards is being held at Gorton monastery.
I'd seen pictures of the monastery and was really looking forward to seeing it for 'real'.
It's a fab looking venue with but unfortunately it has absolutely dreadful acoustics for amplified music.
Acoustics for the human voice are great though and we were treated to a wonderful aria from a student of the Cheetham School of Music which was truly memorable.
Wayne Hemingway presented again and celebs present on the night included Linda Barker and Michele Collins who left before dessert.
A wise choice as the food was as is quite common at these events very bad, with a main course of what can only be called 'Convention Chicken' being notably poor.
With Janet presenting a couple of awards and lovely and fun people on our table it was a great evening.
I thought this was going to be fridays blip but see that the time had flown by and this was taken saturday morning!
