Information overload

There appears to be a plethora of posters infesting the station recently. We have numerous notice boards dotted around the place and almost every available space on them has an "important" piece of paper nailed into it.
It's not just the physical space that is invaded, it's also the virtual. Every time we open up our work email account there is the critical mass of messages, the relevant mixed with the irrelevant, usually with a number of equally relevant/irrelevant attachments.
It has become a problem for most of us as we have developed a poster and "mail" myopia. An inconvenience in some occupations, dangerous in others.

I wonder, is it just the natural evolution of communication or am I just becoming too old, too overwhelmed and too over sensitive to the oppressive climate of increasing information overload.
