Appreciation

HH appreciating his surroundings.

Woke early again and sat peacefully on the verandah watching the birds - until the urge to get a shot of a hummingbird got me moving round the garden. So much to see and enjoy here.

Another wonderful, rather late breakfast, followed by croquet, but not too vicious. Hardly any blood shed and my team snatched an unexpected victory from the jaws of defeat. Each of us spent the morning wandering around our favourite haunts, meeting again for another spectacular Minas lunch, carne seca with tutu mineira - fried dried meat with a special dish of red beans, accompanied by salad, heart of palm and other goodies. Then, as the rain picked up, time to pack and hit the road back to Rio. Very heavy rain for much of the way, and mist in places, but probably for that reason, the traffic wasn't too bad and we got home in half the time it took us to reach our destination on Friday, and with memories of a wonderful weekend to sustain us.
