By Himself

By Himself

Costa del West Cork

Escaping from cupboard-painting (about half done now) I took a brief blip-wander in the late afternoon light. It's amazing how picturesque everything can be here. A sprinkling of snow, some glittery writing (and a Robin?) could turn this image into a sentimental Christmas card couldn't it?

Still air. Clouds motionless in the sky. A strange sense of impending change - perhaps a weather front or a turn of the tide - a sadness almost. On the horizon, to both South and West, high plumes of dark smoke announced the start of the annual folly of gorse burning on the hills.
