Artist's scene

After taking this photo, I realized that I had been standing on the grass next to the canal that runs beside a street called Pieter Lastmankade. Pieter Lastman (1583-1633) was an Amsterdam artist who captured history in paintings, with much attention to landscape. He is also famous because he was a teacher of Rembrandt (1606-1669). However, Lastman did not live in this area as it was not developed until almost 300 years after his life.

I can imagine an artist painting this scene...
