On Frozen Pond

A gen2 on ice as photographed by a black-headed gull.

I was up at Birnie Loch this afternoon and was surprised to find ice on it. I thought it had been warmer the last couple of days.

Nothing really spectacular there.
Golden-eyes have arrived since my last visit three weeks ago.

I did however have a strange encounter with a robin. It came very close and fluttered its wings at me just as juveniles do when they want their parents to feed them. Luckily I had some peanuts in my pocket and broke a couple up into the palm of my hand and the robin promptly flew onto my hand for the food!
That is the 4th different robin that has fed from my hand at Birnie.
