Into the sunrise

Saturday morning and obsessionality dictated that I try to find somewhere to take a photograph of the sunrise. The problem I faced was that Adelaide is very flat except for the Adelaide Hills to the east of the city centre. The sun was therefore going to have to be high enough in the sky to be seen over the top of the hills.

I did get a number of interesting pictures of the colours in the sky, with (a) the tower of the Cathedral Church of St Francis Xavier, (b) the buildings for the trotting course, and (c) the grass of Victoria Park, also known as Pakapakanthi (in the language of the people of the land).

However, I decided that this photo of a Virgin Australia jet heading over the city and off to the east coast of Australia, most effectively shows the rising sun, which at that time was still unseen behind the Adelaide Hills.
