Street art

It was a lovely day today and the bright blue sky was a perfect backdrop for this mural on the side of a five story building on Havenstraat. It was painted by Rimon Guimaraes in 2012 for the Reflexo on Urban Art Festival. Rimon, a self-taught contemporary artist from Curitiba, Brazil, is known for large scale brightly coloured bold shapes in urban surroundings.

To quote from their website, the R.U.A. (Reflexo on Urban Art) offers high quality contemporary art in public spaces, freely accessible to anyone, at any moment of the day.

I know I have said it before, but I love the public art in Amsterdam!
