Welcombe Hills

I have always admired this view over the Welcombe Hills towards Stratford from the A46. This morning, someone had kindly lit a bonfire and the smoke drifting across provided a lovely separation in the distance and the sky was interesting.

The problem is that there is nowhere to stop along this stretch of road and to add to the problem I was in our motorhome having just collected a table from Ikea. I screeched to a halt in a farmers gateway and snapped off a few handheld shots as I had remembered to bring the camera with me :-)

The obelisk was erected in 1876 by Robert Needham Philips to honour his brother Mark Philips.
