Three Wise Men

There we were enjoying a very relaxed evening when the door bell rang.

We'd had an extremely laid back 'at home' day getting the flat ready for Christmas with GK's 'real' dusting and then the precise measuring for the placing of the Christmas tree!! GK laboured well into the afternoon festooning it with bits and bobs and managed to place the final bauble on just as 4 o'clock tea beckoned!! It looks absolutely fantastic! see here

I was allowed to set up the Nativity scene with the heirloom crib and figurines to match..(to be blipped at a later date!) I also did other little creative bits that don't require precise measurements and now we can truly say....we're ready!!!

I deviate......The doorbell rang!

Standing outside were these three wise young men who wanted to sing some Christmas carols for us. They were walking the streets, house to house collecting for people back in the Philipines who had been ravaged by the typhoon that swept through their country not so long ago. A really noble effort and a very brave thing to do in this land.

....And hey...they could really sing!!!

At the end of their rendition we offered them the customary hospitality of a drink and a mince pie. They reminded us of a time when they had visited us in our old flat and had enjoyed bread stollen and mulled wine then!! Unfortunately they needed to get back to Sharjah so declined refreshment, but how humbling to think they even recognised us. We only recall a much larger group visiting of which they must have been a part.

Its been a good day and will no doubt be an equally good night. Tomorrow promises to be really busy!

Happy Blipping Everyone
