The Grand Arcade Clock

This clock was installed by clock makers Wm. Potts & Sons of Leeds in 1888.
It has been partly restored after many years of neglect, but money is still needed to bring it back to it's former glory.

It is in the Grand Arcade Leeds. Which has now also been restored.

2 knights strike the quarters while on each hour a procession of 5 figures emerge, march round and then disappear.

I have taken several photos, which show them marching round. See Large

This beautiful old arcade has also been restored and is home to many small independent retailers, and cafes. Called Handpicked Hall.
A really interesting place to walk round, and buy something different, and many home made products.

Bought MrC a new handmade shaving brush from the Traditional Shaving Company.

A shop called Jil Made This had some lovely handmade soft toys etc. as well as vintage books.
I was looking through some very old Ladybird books.
I still have some of mine dating back to the 1940's, but my very favourite had been lost over the years.
Guess what she had one! Published in 1948. I was 4 years old and got it for Christmas.
So I couldn't resist buying it.
( I'm an old softy!)
It is the story of a little dog called Ginger. The boy who lived nextdoor was his friend, and took him out to play every day.
Then one day Ginger moved away to live in London, and both Tommy and Ginger were very sad.
Ginger hated the big city, and longed to be back in the country with Tommy.
But he escaped and managed to find his way back to Tommy !

" So the friends remained together,
Friends for ever and a day,
Going out in wind and sunshine,
Out across the farm to play."

It is called Ginger's Adventures.
I love the old fashioned pictures too.

Leeds just gets better!
