Street Artists Painting the Town Technicolour

It was such a beautiful morning and I asked John if we could go for a drive today.. wanted to go yesterday, but didn't happen. Just needed to get out these four walls!

By the time we went out the rain just started. We had a coffee in New Brighton and had a short walk around in the light rain. So not so great for taking shots. On the way home we passed by where this Street was in the process of being painted, so got a few shots. I think the two men may have something to do with what's happening in Christchurch just now.

They are a number of new Works going up all over the city because of the RISE street-art festival. They have commissioned a dozen large street-art paintings in the city centre, while the From the Ground Up project has organised about 16 large artworks in the city centre and Sydenham.

Christchurch business owners and city leaders believe street art will help regenerate areas hit hard by the earthquakes and draw tourists to the city. This what the RISE festival is all about.
