On a day of atrocious weather with the rain and gales getting worse from late afternoon I went down to the Shanklin sea front where from the safety of the car I was able to get some shots of the huge angry waves battering the coast.

I couldn't believe my eyes when into the viewfinder came a windsurfer who must have been doing around 30- 40 mph. He was either very skilled or totally bonkers.

The storm force winds and torrential rain have been increasing during the evening so hope everyone remains safe and sound. I am on duty at the Steam Railway on Christmas Eve so hope there are no trees on the line and the forecast for a much better day is correct.
