Former Great Eastern Station of Gunton

There is no village called Gunton and the station is actually situated in the parish of Thorpe Market.

Gunton Station was built for the convenience of Lord Suffield who lived at nearby Gunton Hall. He was a major investor in the original East Norfolk Railway Company which built the railway from Norwich to Cromer. This was incorporated into the Great Eastern Railway (GER), which ran its prestigious Cromer expresses non-stop from Liverpool Street to North Walsham - the station south of Gunton.

Gunton’s splendid station buildings are now beautifully preserved as shown here in private ownership.
