The Crosswells Inn

Before they knocked it down, I lived in a little terrace 2 up, 2 down around the corner from here. In the 60's my Mother occasionally captained the darts team at this pub (and it hasn't changed it's name!) and also worked part time at the chippy across the road (called Carries). The pub is all that's left of the old area now, it's got rows of modern shoeboxes (although they all look bigger than ours did), and the park, which used to have rusting swings, roundabouts and, what I think was called a witches hat, all set on concrete, have all been replaced by modern wooden concept playground objects all staged on some sort of plastic soft ground. Even the canal, which used to contain a variety of unique modern art installations (including an mini traveller and aforementioned witches hat), has been cleaned up.

Things change....
