Monday 5 October 2009: A is for?
As Bella's now able to recognise three letters of the alphabet ('buh', 'oh' and 'dubda-ooh') and expressing a keen interest in finding out "what number is for sellotape / cup / uncle John / Ruaridh / etc." ad-infinitum, I thought it would be cool if we made our very own picture alphabet together. We're going to do it four letters at a time, moving on to the next four once she's learned the last.
I got as far as 'A' before really struggling to think of unambiguous objects ('animals' wouldn't work, for example) which Bella would recognise. 'Apple' is obvious but the only other thing I could think of after a lengthy period of head-scratching was 'avocado' (she is middle class, you know).
I still can't think of anything.
Hopefully I'll have taught her to read and write before senility takes a proper hold.
