A little too much action

For the umpteenth year, we are in Fort William, staying with friends for the New Year. Usually this involves a large meal, with varying numbers of adults and children. However the children are all getting much larger and traditions are changing. This year, we decided to attend the ceilidh at the Nevis Centre. It was a well attended event, with lots of enthusiastic but chaotic dancing. By around 12.45 the ceilidh band had been replaced with a singer and the dance floor had been taken over by teenagers. We adults had had enough, and we wandered back down the road. The older teens stayed behind until the end, and got back after we had all gone to bed. It was lovely to see in the new year with them all, however. As the older children are now 18, I suspect they will soon be going their own ways. or maybe the tradition will last a few more years. I hope so.
