Wednesday 7 October 2009: Winter waterfall

There's been almost no wind during that last couple of cloud-free days. So, I made sure to pick up the D70, tripod and IR filter before heading into work this morning. This little waterfall, just over the road from the office, is the perfect subject for some long exposure infrared fun.

Getting the right white balance is still tricky. The recommended approach is to use a patch of green grass to calculate the white balance. It just never seems to work out quite right and I always end up adjusting it in Lightroom before fiddling around in Photoshop with hue and saturation sliders.

That said, I'm pretty happy with the results.
