Waterfoot Sunrise

At long last the wind has died down and the sun even managed to shine for a few hours today!

My absence from blip has been as much about the weather as my new philosophy for blipping. I won't bore everyone with my stormy weather related stories as there are an awful lot of people who have suffered more over the last week or so. Suffice to say, Waterfoot lived up to its name during the storm surge last Friday with our front garden looking like a duck pond. The garage floor was under 6" of water and a few things were damaged. The main thing was we managed to keep the water out of some holiday homes, but only just. Fortunately the sandbags held. Since then we have spend our spare time clearing up the mess and removing loads of debris from our access road. Still more to do, but it can wait.

There was almost a glimmer of a sunrise this morning, but noting to get excited about. Only 7 Waterfoot Sunrises this Winter, which reflects the awful weather we have had.

At least the sunshine provided an opportunity to grab a few bird blips in the back garden. There is always a bit of luck involved in this, particularly knowing where the birds will land en route to the feeders. Even when this has been established there are the issues of focus and exposure. I tend to pre-focus and hold this until a bird appears in the frame. Luckily for me, a blue tit landed on the exact spot and even posed for the camera! The rest of the shots were rubbish.
