Triggering old memories

My late grandfather was a taxi driver. He used to tell wonderful stories of some of the characters he had in his cab.

One story which my father related at his funeral was of a time he picked up a group of young ladies dressed in rather skimpy outfits.

Over the course of the conversation he realised that they were prostitutes, and launched into an impassioned tirade about how he had daughters and he couldn't understand why young girls would allow themselves to be taken advantage of. Needless to say his pleas were met with uncharitable responses.

I often remember him when I see taxis in the rank, his name still chimes with some folk in the Aberdeen taxi trade, although he passed away nearly 17 years ago.
