Black swan

We went for a cycle ride today, and afterwards, spent an hour or so at the Orana Wildlife Park. It was an opportunity to see the new baby cheetahs, two brothers that are being hand reared. Besides seeing the animals in their enclosures, which is the main reason for going there, extensive areas of artificial ponds and moats attract a lot of local bird life.

This is the very common Australian black swan, Cygnus atratus, that was probably both intentionally and naturally introduced to New Zealand. It was feeding on weed in the moat by the rhino enclosure.
