Wilhunter

Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig

with:
Magne Viking (tug)
Balder Viking (tug)
Olympic Zeus (tug/supply-ship)
Grampian Defiance (standby safety vessel)

This morning there was a thick haar over the Forth and then as the sun climbed above the Lothian hills, a drilling rig loomed out of the murkiness at anchorage K6.

The rig is the Wilhunter and the tugs that brought it were deploying anchors. It will remain parked off Kirkcaldy for up to 2 weeks.

The tugs were the Magne Viking, Balder Viking & Olympic Zeus. The search and rescue (SAR) safety vessel 'Grampian Defiance' was also standing by.

More views throughout the day can be seen on my Flickr Photostream.
