HELPMEKAAR

(help one another) This refers to a symbiotic relationship between the Euphorbia photgraphed and the Karoo Gold (Rhigozum obovatum).
The Karoo Gold forms an effective scaffolding with its hard thorn like branches, supporting the soft juicy stems of the Euphorbia. The branch with the tiny green leaves belongs to the Karoo Gold and the yellow flowers are from the Euphorbia which incidentally were the only plants in bloom on the koppie this morning.
I am not an expert at identifying these plants but the closest that I got was Euphorbia caterviflora also known as"springbokmelkbos". (springbuck milk bush) I notice that there are lots of broken branches on this plant, so I like to think that it has been grazed by the buck that we see on rare occasions on the koppie.
