Merkinch Nature Reserve

I had the day off today (because I've worked extremely hard the rest of the week :-)

On our last visit to check on our wee boat we found she had a small leak through a deck fitting. With rain forecast for the weekend we set off to attempt a repair before any of that water gets in! The repair was straightforward (for once) and fingers crossed she's now watertight once more (albeit with some pink car body filler where the leaky fitting used to be!)

On the way home we stopped off for a walk at the Merkinch Nature Reserve. Fascinating wetland area and there were at least 15 herons all sound asleep, maybe just passing the time until a lower, more suitable fishing tide? Sadly they were a bit too far away for a decent photo.

This is the wetland area looking towards Ord Hill, at one of the few moments this afternoon when the rain went off :) Can't complain though, as it obligingly stayed dry long enough for the filler to set this morning for which I am most grateful!
