"Sea Toadstools"

During WW2 sandy beaches on the south and east coast were ideal as potential landing sites for enemy gliders or landing craft.  One such place was east of Edinburgh at Gosford Bay where there are many anti-tank blocks and these concrete ‘toadstools’.  Wooden posts were encased in concrete bases  and then sunk into the sand to stop gliders landing and miles of barbed wire were placed along the beaches and coastline to stop invading troops.  Some of these broken remains can still be seen in places although most were removed about 50 years ago.

Now that I have internet access again I would like to thank all those who sent congratulations on my 500th blip and will backblip when I have time.
