Style

This photograph may look like it has been taken in some farm lane in the Aberdeenshire countryside. Instead it is in the city close to the Queen's Cross roundabout.

Although it can't be seen there is a small stream on the left behind this shrubbery. It is called Den Burn and runs though the Western side of the city before eventually discharging into the harbour. It is prone to bursting its banks in the Queens Cross area, after which I think it is covered over.

It might be thought these sand bags are a response to the recent rainfall. Instead they seem to be the Council's response to the flooding problem, the bags have been there for at least a year, and so seem to be a permanent feature.

Presumably the colour of the bags was chosen to blend in with snow. In Aberdeen we do things with style.
