, day 5

Day 5 and going strong. Even some wing flapping for you. The big pale area down his neck is the gizzard which expands and looks like this when he's getting full. And in a couple of seconds comma will collapse with exhaustion and sleep.

We were reminded today of just how fragile they are. 2 of his nest mates , both older and yesterday looking strong as, died today. They were both waxeyes which are particularly fragile. So we need the power of blip to help see this guy through along with his little bit older buddy.

And as seeing it looks like the blip story is all go, time to reflect on the photographic aspect of this. Most of the images I'm getting are a bit marginal one might say. Standing on a chair arm whilst the bird carer stands on her ladder, dim hallway lights, can't use flash as it disturbs these wee guys, so ISO 3200 which I dont like using , max aperture , VR, and still 1/60th second. And close. Marginal in so many ways.
