OLD STIRLING BRIDGE

Another bridge! Built around approximately 1550, this bridge has had its moments of notoriety, when both Highland troops and the British army tried to cross during the 1745 Jacobite rebellion.
The nearby Stirling New Bridge, which you see under the first arch is over 150 years old. It was designed by Robert Stevenson, grandfather of the author of ‘Treasure Island’. You can just see the railway bridge in the background.
