Nelson liked his telly

Street view.
Later on we went round to S's flat for a slightly belated Burns Supper. We were also there last year. We had a great time, with excellent hosting, the traditional menu of haggis, neeps and tatties, a few poems and speeches and some beautiful signing of a couple of Burns' pieces by the very accomplished singer C. As L said it was lovely to hear her voice filling the flat with Burns' lyrics, sung unaccompanied as so many other people must have done in the over two hundred years since the words were written. A bit like the feeling I have had acting in a Shakespearean play - that sense of cultural continuity and history. And what a great voice. To be able to just pick up a book and start singing like that - what a talent to have.
