Sunday 1 November 2009: Housebound
We've been complaining all summer that our living room is a bit dark and gloomy, and could do with a slight rethink. Today we were reminded why it's like that - there's nowhere cosier when the autumnal gloom sets in (which I'm sure is in no small way connected to the fact it was this exactly this time of year when we decorated it).
External hard disc #9 reached capacity last week, so a housebound day has got me thinking where my data storage strategy and I go from here. I don't want to just keep adding drives because the sockets reached capacity long ago and the desk space isn't far behind.
My current thinking is to replace the drives inside the current enclosures with ones of much larger capacity, upgrading four 250GB drives to 1TB each. I recently upgraded one of these from 120GB to 500GB without any problem, so I assume it'll be safe to go from 250GB to 1TB. Can anyone reassure me? And what's the cheapest place to buy good quality internal hard drives?
