Sunday 8 November 2009: Jacaranda time in Perth

Being born and bred in the city of Pretoria, SA, Jacaranda time was always a very special time of the year.

It was spring time, fall in love time, but also the time for thousands of students and scholars to do last minute study work for the coming exams.

More than thirty five years ago the Pretoria Marathon Club was founded and for many years we were involved in the administrative side as well as the competitive scene. The club emblem was that of a lilac Jacaranda blossom - denoting the club's origin.
Pretoria is known as the Jacaranda City.

This year (as last year) I spend most of spring time in Perth and as luck would have it, there is a Jacaranda tree next to the drive way, which is presently showing a display of lovely lilac blooms.

Thirty five years ago our little family entered a new phase of which I will say something more with tomorrow's blip.
