lesson one

A good day. A misty start cleared to bright sunshine. A good start was made on the clearing of the fallen trees and the making safe of the ones still standing. The sound of chainsaws buzzed on all sides like gangs of angry wasps, but short work was made of it and by the end of the day there were several satisfyingly large stacks of logs.
In the tunnel we made strawberry towers with stacked terracotta pots, amongst other jobs.

This evening I went out to the first meeting of the landscapes mentoring group, a subsection of Clonakilty Camera Club. For an hour and a half we stood in the twilight and photographed the Celtic Ross hotel at Rosscarbery with many different settings. I learned how to use a histogram as well as better use of settings generally. This was one of the last shots and is exactly as it came out of the camera, with no tweaking whatsoever.
Afterwards we sat in a very warm bar and looked at each others landscape shots. I was pleased to see that mine held their own in some quite good company.
