Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Changing photo eras

Who remembers these?? Our old Sawyer “automatic 707Q” slide projector. My New Year’s resolution was to go thru all our old slides and toss most of them. Well, it’s Feb 17 and we finally began so I wanted to document this day. :-) We have 51 carousels of 100 slides each sitting in our not altogether dry storeroom in our garage - and that doesn’t count the boxes of both our parents slides, but somewhat less of those. Carousel #1 here says “patented 1964 March Reg.” Our slides begin with a trip to Mexico in summer 1963 (we got married in Dec. 1963) and then quickly go to Spring 1964 with a “new Camera”. (I think it was a Pentax, but my 50 year memory can’t quite pull it up...) Anyone watch the TV series “Madmen”? This fictional Sterling Cooper original Advertizing Agency on Madison Ave in NYC designed this carousel - early 60s.!!! Oh my.
Thought about making this mono for mono monday today but it’s all about color slides......)

H and I actually had a lot of fun with these old kodachromes- but I’m determined to not save more than a maximum of 20 from each, hopefully less... -and put them in a plastic page.(that holds 20) Not sure what then (any ideas?) but it’s a start (our kids will thank us I’m sure.. :-).) Not more than 1 carousel a day....

The next era to conquer will be all the file boxes of kodacolor prints starting in the early 90s...with some earlier and black and whites done in our darkroom.... after which we get to the thousands of digital photos......

Interesting, these photo eras......
