The Edge of the Wold

Weaving

Gus is weaving behind his pal Rowan who is following a straight line back to the ball thrower. Only four out of eight paws are on the ground. Though Gus does chase the ball and bring it back occasionally, he is happy for Rowan to do most of that while he just anticipates his every move. I'm not sure if weaving is an instinctive behaviour pattern for Gus, or whether it was something he learned in his early days working with sheep. Whatever, it is too deeply ingrained for him to stop now, and he dutifully shepherds his people along as well as Rowan. As for Rowan, Sue has had him since he was a small pup, and he shows no inclination to weave which perhaps suggests it is a learned behaviour.

You can see what a mucky pair they were today. They wore each other out. Gus was so tired this evening, he didn't get out out of his basket to welcome his favourite human when she came home. But he is curled up by her feet now.
