R is for Reconnoitre

Usual trip to Asda this morning. Was out ages as we had to go via my friend Jan's mother in laws over in Newcastle and then call at the sorting office for a parcel before going to Asda. Weather was dry but dull and there was dampness in the air.

Neil had a day off and he went to the gym this morning. He has started his training for the Edinburgh marathon which is in May. He is out this evening - off to the cinema with his girlfriend.

Remember a week or so ago when Tino got out and spent who knows how long out in the back garden - or further away ........ well since then he has been very unsettled and wanting to go out all the time. Crying and howling at the back door and generally getting on my nerves. Going out into the cat enclosure isn't enough for him now that he has tasted the big wide outside world. So I decided to get him a " walking jacket " and lead so I could take him out into the garden safely.

The jacket came this morning so I put it on Tino to let him get used to it indoors. Then I hitched him up to a retractable lead and we were off out of the back door. Bad start - we came face to face with my neighbour's cat Fluffy who was not pleased to see us. Cue lots of hissing and growling before Fluffy jumped on the fence and watched proceedings from there.

Tino and I had a roam around the garden before venturing out of the gate on to the lane which runs along behind the house. Tino made a racket the whole time - mostly growling and chittering away to himself. He was quite good on the lead and we managed a little walk. Didn't stay out too long - just a preliminary reconnoitre of the area for Tino.
