Lord and Ladies

Arum italicum ssp. italicum ‘Marmoratum,’ known by the common name of Lord and Ladies, is a spectacular addition to the garden in winter. The beautiful leaves (8 or 10 inches long) come up in autumn and stay around for the whole winter. Even on this rainy, cold afternoon, they brighten their little nook in the garden. The leaves also hold for a long time in a cut flower arrangement, a big plus in the winter. This plant was given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.
