Life, not as we see it.

Sunset, with fishers, Costa Adeje, Teneriffe.

Today was educational! This morning, whilst walking from Adeje towards Los Cristianos, we were accosted by two young ladies whom, it transpired, really were not that young and were certainly lot ladies in the conventional sense. Londoners by accent, they regaled us with a story about promotional stuff involving return holiday discounts to lure Mr & Mrs Public back to Las Islas Canarias. Part of the promotion was a sort of scratch card where one could win anything from a glass on wine to repeat hols or even Euros 1200. Surprise, surprise!, our card offered the 1200 as one of the better alternatives. All we had to do was pop down to an adjacent internet cafe. Sue needed a seat to apply plasters to a blister, and I had a certain need for facilities, so we went. A colleague joined us and started milking us for personal information, and explained that if we did win the cash, it was not immediately available in folding cash, but would be transferred to our credit card. Penny dropped with a thump, and much to these scheming effing criminals disappointment, I informed them that they were sussed, and could take a flying xxxx to themselves.

Now, I have to admit to falling foul of members of the criminal fraternity, but never before such a blatant, but clever scam. I hate to think just how many grey haired tourists have been caught by this. Nasty bastards.

Carried on to the Sunday market at Los C. Busy, busy. No obvious pick pockets, but they were there. Bought a shirt and a new panama. That's my pocket money gone.

On a more positive note, it's pleasantly warm out and about, and roasting on our terrace. Found a couple of “local” bars where a Tapas lunch for two can be had for a modest sum. Fine that.
Beer ranges from E2.50 a Cana to only E1.50 a Jarra. Law of supply and demand being quite effective it seems :-)

PS: Poor internet service dictates downsizing photos, so sorry for any apparent poor quality
